Regulations for the Game of Table Tennis

For a friendly, non-professional way of playing table tennis, these are the basic rules you must follow:

1. Choose the format of scoring early in the game. Official table tennis games are played until one player reaches 11 points. However, the match can also be played as one of the best 3, 5 or 7 games, according to the agreement of players. Just keep in mind that you will not be able to win by one point. A player must be ahead by 2 points before he or she may be declared as winner.

2. Serve the ball in releasing the palm of your hands. Toss the ball up to reach the height of about six inches above the table. Strike the ball down, making it bounce on your side of the table and your opponent. The ball does not touch the net during the service. If it does, this is called a let serve. I used are not marked but reserved.

3. Hitting the ball after it bounced on the table. It is illegal to volley the ball before it has touched the surface of the table. The ball must bounce once on each side as it moves from one player to another. If it happens that the player hit the ball too hard it missed the table entirely, the point goes to another player. In table tennis, table where the game is played fixed limits.

4. In a double game, a player must serve diagonally on the right side of the courtyard between their law. The white line painted on the table divides the left and right court. However, in a simple game, these lines do not mean anything. Players can take the ball anywhere during a serve. Cross-court directly in the short or long – there are no restrictions.

5. The ball or the table can not be touched by the player free field during play. If this happens, the player who committed the offence loses the point. The ball should bounce freely on the table during a rally. Only paddles are allowed to strike. The player of the clothing does not touch the net as well.

6. Players can not hit the ball twice in a row. If you are unable to hit the ball either on a service or after your opponent has sent back to your yard, your opponent takes the point. It also follows that your paddle is not allowed to hit the ball in succession.

These rules should be sufficient for you to play a good game of table tennis with friends. If you want to play professionally, you will need to learn the rules more complex as defined by the Federation of Table Tennis.
