The Brazil Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro is the beach most people think of when they hear Brazil. It was named after the Copacabana Palace Resort, which has the reputation for attracting society’s elite, the beach has lovely white sands, parties around the clock and plenty of activities from volleyball to swimming and soccer to sunbathing. Here are five cool facts about Copacabana beach.

Plenty of Refreshments  – Copacabana Beach has tons of vendors so getting a refreshment is never difficult. You’ll find numerous quaint small bars alongside the main street of AVenida Atlantica with fruit beverages, beer, sandwiches and snacks. The high season is from November to March and this is usually when prices are  higher than in off-season.

Lots of Souvenirs – The beach is constantly filled with vendors promoting all types of things. This is how a lot of people make their full time income. Anything from shirts, towels, bracelets and souvenirs, you can find souvenirs to remind you of the awesome time you had in Copacabana.

At night, you can find a really good selection of souvenirs. People set up tents in the median on the main street, Avenida Atlantica. They only start doing it at night so you’ll have to wait. People do sell souvenirs during the day right on the beach walkway but the selection at night is much better. 

Never Boring – The beach has plenty to offer. Whether you need an umbrella and chair or a drink, you can find it. There’s a lot of activity with teams competing against each other in a soccer match or people playing fute-volley. This is where you have a volleyball net but the players can’t use their hands. They can use their feet, head and shoulders. It’s really cool to watch.

Beautiful Backdrop – Copacabana has a beautiful setting between the blue green water and the sandy beaches. With the mountains in the background you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to paradise.

Excellent Lifeguard Assistance – Getting continuous lifeguard support is really critical, particularly for a popular beach. Copacabana Beach doesn’t disappoint because it’s lifeguards are typically on duty from 8 in the morning until eight at night.
