There are many places to find volleyball shoes, but your local mall is not one of them. They have cross training shoes but rarely have volleyball shoes in footlocker, lady footlocker, champs, Sears, Macys, or any other of those chains. Big 5 will sometimes have volleyball shoes but it really depends on the location. Believe it or not discount shop chain locations will usually have last seasons shoes. Which gives you a cheaper pair of great shoes! Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshalls will often have a good variety of volleyball shoes in the fall. You may have to go to a few of the locations if you are lucky enough to have multiple near you, but they have them. I got my Adidas Vuelos there, which is my preferred pair of volleyball shoes, they are wider set for my big feet.
If you want an overview on the Vuelo you can read my review of them here. Otherwise if you have time to wait you can always get a great selection on eastbay and surprisingly again Amazon. Be sure you know how the shoes run size wise, they are often a half size larger or smaller than the brands you are normally wear. Older girls usually wear a 9 or 10 for most volleyball shoes, if you are younger then 7 or 8. The discount chains will have the larger sizes, smaller ones are tougher, in the alternative Eastbay and Amazon will have the smaller sizes and not the larger. Happy hunting for shoes. If you are unsure of what to look for in a shoe I talk about injury reduction in shoes in my knol.
