Top Secluded Beaches in Spain

When you think of the beach, what is it you imagine? Do you picture a busy landscape packed with families, friends and couples all battling to carve out some space to call their own while still having a good time or do you imagine a gorgeous, white sand – and, most importantly, empty – coastal arc of natural beauty? If it’s the latter, you may be interested to hear about some of the best secluded beaches in Spain – as long as you promise not to tell anyone!

While there’s a time and a place for the busy beach that’s teeming with games of volleyball and Frisbee, as well as smouldering barbecues, kids building sandcastles and more people in the ocean than waves, there’s also something special about enjoying the beach in a more private fashion. Beach holidays are meant to be relaxing and, when the sand is packed with other people and their sun loungers, finding somewhere to lay down your towel can end up more stressful than anything else. However, if you simply spend some time and do your research, you’ll discover that there are several beaches out there that are largely untouched by the main tourist population. In fact, some of them aren’t even known about in local communities, they’re so secluded.

The Costa Brava is the place to go if you’re looking for quiet, peaceful beaches. You can rent a car once you arrive in Spain and do the tour yourself. By getting a car, you have the freedom to visit the beaches you want when you fancy it, meaning if you don’t like the look of one you can simply head on to the next. The rugged coastline also makes for spectacular views and you’ll love exploring the various rocky roads on your path to discovery of the most secluded beaches.

You’ll also find solitude on Las Islas Cies, which is a 40 minute boat ride from Baiona – but more than worth it once you see its pristine, deserted beaches. This destination is a little harder to get to, though, so your best bet is definitely getting to the Costa Brava thanks to Spain car rental.

Don’t be afraid to explore the area that makes up Spain’s incredible Costa Brava and seek out that elusive empty beach – it’ll be more than worth it when you do! Good luck on your search and remember – don’t tell a soul!
