The tennis tournament will play in Vina Del Mar, Chile, at the Club Naval de Campo Las Salinas as part of the International Series of the 2009 ATP Tennis Tour. This year will see the 17th edition of the annual event taking place, where some of the top tennis players will compete for the Movistar Open Tennis Title. The event is played on clay and features 32-player play-off format.
2008 Movistar Open saw some exciting round of tennis with some of the best tennis players competing for the final title. The championship consisted of singles and doubles and 32 champions started the singles first round, after which 16 of them were selected to play in the second round. The quarterfinals were played between 8 players from the second round who made it to the next level. These 8 players were divided into the top half and bottom half with 4 players each.
